I think we idolize a busy lifestyle in society too much, always on the go go go.
When's the last time you did something for no reason at all, absolutely no purpose other than maybe making you smile a little? When's the last time you just "were," not on your phone or watching Netflix, but just sat there and did nothing? When's the last time you looked at every detail of your surrounding just for the sake of studying it? So often we scramble in the search of finding what can pleasure us instead of just BEING in our otherwise crazy lives.
Too often nowadays (here I am sounding old) we don't stop to smell the roses, figuratively and literally sometimes. Maybe I'm just in my head but I have this disgustingly horrible feeling that people do not take the time to notice and enjoy the little things. Relish in the bliss of the sound of flip flops on the warm cement. Look an extra second longer at contrast between the building and the sky. Take an extra whiff of the air and think about the reminiscent feelings that it brings. Look at the way the sun hits a building. Stop to ask how someone's day is going even if you have a million things to do. Listen to someone else's favorite song and figure out why they love it. Just listen to the ambient sound of life. Wonder what it would look like if you put a dandelion in your friend's hair, then do it. Become passionate about someone else's passion for a second. For goodness sake, if anything, just look at the sky once a day. Like LOOK at the sky and thank God for it. Thank God for these seemingly mundane acts of love that He has given to us as GIFTS.
Here's to some of the small moments where I relished in the fact that I am happy to be alive. And here's to many more moments not captured because I was too busy living.
Psalm 46:10 - "Be STILL and know that I am God!"
Colossians 3:15 - "Let the peace of the Messiah also rule in your hearts, to which you were called in one body, and be thankful."
Exodus 14:13 - "But Moses told the people, 'Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again.'"
1 Samuel 12:16 - "Now then, stand still and see this great thing the LORD is about to do before your eyes!"
I could be totally wrong and everyone actually does this but just doesn't saying anything which would be cool but just in case~
