On May 12, 2016, the New York Times put out an article titled “U.S. Directs Public Schools to Allow Transgender Access to Restrooms.” The article stated that the Obama administration was planning to issue a directive telling every public school district in the country that they would have to allow transgender students to use the bathrooms that match their gender identity. The declaration is supposed to describe to schools what they should do to ensure that none of their students are discriminated against. The letter also states that it is not a force of law. However, it does contain an implicit threat; schools that do not abide by the Obama administration’s interpretation of the law could face lawsuits or a loss of federal aid. So basically, they’re not forcing it of schools, but they’re doing their best to not give schools much of an option.

But, as with anything, comes people that do not now, nor will they ever, agree with this declaration. Since the declaration was sent out, 11 states have filed suit against the Obama administration. Those states include: Texas, Alabama, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Tennessee, Arizona’s Department of Education, Maine Gov. Paul LePage, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Utah and Georgia.

The lawsuit says, “Defendants have conspired to turn workplaces and educational settings across the country into laboratories for a massive social experiment, flouting the democratic process and running roughshod over commonsense policies protecting child and basic privacy rights.”

Conservatives are outraged with the Obama administration because of the attempts made to conform to transgender needs. Some argue the safety of other students, ladies in particular. Some argue the rights of our government altogether. Some people have even questioned whether or not this is a step toward communism.

Now, you can have whatever opinion that you would like on this; and I may have one that differs or is similar to yours. But, that’s not my goal here. I think that a big problem with the teenagers growing up in today's world is that they are uninformed. We can’t have the expectations that we do of this generation without informing them! So, take a minute, go to CNN, BBC or ABC News. Read a newspaper. Get caught up. Don’t be one of those uninformed teenagers that old people talk trash about. Get informed and stand up for yourself.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
