Many of us are on campus all day attending classes, studying, and hanging out with friends. I have a 12- to 14-hour day on campus and sometimes it can get exhausting. I can not go home since I commute and live 20 minutes away, so when I have a huge gap between my classes and I have nothing to do, I take a nap. It's hard to find the perfect place to nap on those days you are extremely tired or stressed out, and all you need is a comfortable place to put your head down and shut your eyes. Here are six places to take a nap in college:
1. In your car.
We all commute to campus. We all should have a car in college. If it's too hot outside, turn the air conditioning on. If it's too cold outside, turn the heater on. It is the most private and comfortable place you will find all around campus.
2. The library.
If you need a quiet place to nap, the library is the best place to go. Some libraries have study rooms, so just find an empty room and take a nap. If not, look for a comfy couch in the library. If that is not available, find a good ole table and chair and just put your head down.
3. Student lounges.
Student lounges tend to have comfy couches and when there's a couch, who doesn't want to throw themselves on it and take a nap? Plus, the name speaks for itself. It's the place where students are expected to chat, eat, study, or take a nap.
4. In class.
Now, I don't recommend sleeping in class, but if you can master napping with your eyes open, you're considered a pro napper. First, find a seat where you will be least noticed by your professor. Then, situate yourself so it looks like you're paying attention in class. Last, Nap time!!
5. The cafeteria.
Depending on the time of day, this is a perfect place to take a nap. I recommend either in the morning before the lunch rush comes in, or in the evening once everyone clears out after dinner. It helps to find a table near a corner so it is less distracting with noise just in case people decide to show up.
6. Outdoors.
If it's warm enough outside, find a good spot under a tree or a bench. Some campuses even provide hammocks for those who like to sit outside in the sun.
A nap is not just going to make you feel better, but it will make you more alert and help you focus in your next class. You will also be in a better mood. A quick tip to make sure you don't feel groggy when you wake up is to drink coffee right before you nap. By the time you wake up from your nap, the caffeine will kick in and you'll be ready to head off to your next class. Whatever location feels the most comfortable to you, go there and nap away!
