New York City is a magical place during the holiday season. So many people talk about the tree at Rockefeller Center or the Radio City Rockets, but there are so many other things to experience this winter.

1. Dyker Heights Christmas Lights

Brooklyn neighborhood of Dyker Heights goes all out in competition for best Christmas Lights. These incredible spectacles are unique and fun with millions of lights, inflatables, and characters lining rows of homes. Make sure to check this out by New Years Day when the lights will come down!

2. Holiday Under the Stars

Time Warner Center offers an incredible new way to experience the stars in the City. 12 fourteen foot stars hang down from the 150-foot ceiling to illuminate the room with an array of changing colors. This is the perfect environment for a sweet date night in the city or for impressing out of town family members with the new look at the city. Plan a day in the city before January 3rd to be sure you don't miss out!

3. Sledding in Central Park

Pilgrims Hill is a choice favorite in the relatively flat city of New York. Take a trip to Central Park and join the locals for a fun day outside this winter. Bring your favorite sled or a simple cookie sheet and enjoy this winter wonderland.

4. City Markets

The city is full of amazing markets this time of year. Bryant Park, Chelsea Market, Union Square Market, and so many other places are the perfect stop for a unique and adorable Christmas gift. These one-stop markets are great for those who have a wide range of interests to shop for, and you can even enjoy some of the best food and hot chocolate as you shop around. Most of these markets run through Christmas Eve so even last minute shoppers can find the perfect gifts.

5. Prospect Park Fireworks

This incredible firework show often gets overlooked due to the ball dropping in Time Square. However, if you've always wanted to experience New Year's Eve in New York City, but want to avoid this craziness of Time Square, this is the perfect spot to reign in the New Year.
