New York City is an extremely diverse place, and with that comes many great food options! People from all over the world reside here, which means they bring their customs and food traditions as well. There is no type of food you cannot find in NYC. With that, comes an array of themed restaurants for any occasion! Here are some of my favorites.
1. Barking Dog Luncheonette
This is a great place for you and your furry friend, located on the Upper East Side. Although your pup cannot go inside, you can eat in the outdoor section with your dog. Dogs even get their own water bowl! This is a great place to meet and mingle with other four-legged creatures.
2. Sugar Factory
This place has been getting a lot of attention lately due to its frequent celebrity visitors. Many people come for the food, but what it’s best known for is the drinks. Their signature drink is the Goblet, which is a fruity & sweet beverage in a gauntlet grail-like cup. They also have a big candy bar and play great music! It can get a bit pricey, but for a special occasion it’s worth it. If you have kids, no worries, each Goblet comes with a non-alcoholic option!
3. Ninja
If you are a sushi lover, this place is great! A Japanese restaurant located in Manhattan with a "Ninja" theme. You enter a building and go up the elevator, to be shocked by a ninja jumping out at you. Go down dark corridors and hallways to get to your table, where you find even more ninjas! Kids also love this place!
4. Ellen’s Stardust Diner
This is one of my mom’s favorites and I have dined here many times. Not only do you get a meal, but a show too! The wait staff sing and dance all over the place, using the tables as a stage. The majority of the workers are aspiring actors and actresses, trying to make it big on Broadway. Come down and support these aspiring stars!
5. Planet Hollywood
This is a great family restaurant, especially for people who love movies, and is probably one of the most famous restaurants in New York City. Located in Times Square, this restaurant is famous for its Hollywood theme (which I’m sure you inferred from the title). Memorabilia from famous movies such as "Planet of the Apes" and "Indiana Jones" line the wall. It can get a bit pricey, but I’m sure you know that before coming to Times Square.
