I have to say that I haven’t worked this hard for school within the first week of classes starting. Once classes began this week, reality hit! It seemed like the days were getting shorter, the time was running out to finish assignments, and I felt like I was going to drown in the deep sea of nursing school.
After the first day of class, I felt a little overwhelmed, but I was really confident. When I got home, I started to look over all of my syllabi and I instantly felt stressed out. I had nine assignments due within the next week on top of all of my reading. REALITY CHECK ... it was time to hit the ground running, and fast!
Amidst of all the reading and all of the assignments, I was busy texting my best friend (thank you, Kristin, for always being there) and everyone else who is in my nursing class to ask/answer any questions that I had. All of us nursing students come from a different background and even a different culture, but we are all there to help each other. We have each other’s back, and we are willing to bend over backward to help each other.
Going into nursing school this week has shown me where my passion is. Yes, there is a lot of work and a lot of stress that goes into nursing school, but I would not want to be studying anything else. It may seem that I don’t have enough time in the day to finish my assignments or that I can’t figure out what to do, but I love starting this new journey. I haven’t made it into the hospital just yet (that starts next semester), but I am enjoying what I am doing right now. The professors are so enjoyable, and they try their hardest to help you. Even though I email them constantly, they are patient and email me back right away. They are dedicated to helping their students succeed, and that in itself means so much.
Nursing school will be filled with many memories and will foster my education for my future nursing career. I am thankful for this chance to fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse, and I will remember to take in every moment. Even though it may seem difficult at times, I know that perseverance and dedication are key to being successful.
I do believe that the Lord places us where we are for a reason, and I also believe that He has placed a special passion in us. Nursing isn’t for everyone. There is a lot of work involved, and there is a lot that rides on your shoulders. However, I love it! I am so excited to spend the rest of my two years in college studying and practicing nursing. Lord, thank you for this amazing opportunity.
Now, I have to go! STUDY TIME!
