Wow. Election night while waiting for numbers to trickle in and electoral votes to be posted was probably one of the most anxiety-filled times I've been through. My vote was counted, I was part of a historical election, and I'm excited to see where the next four years will take us.
However, now that it's over, here's what I'm going to do.
I'm going to continue being patriotic, and stand behind my country.
I'm going to continue to be respectful of Barack Obama while he finishes his last months in office.
I'm going to ignore the hate comments from those who expected Clinton to win.
I will continue to voice my opinion about the issues that matter most to me, and expect that others respect what I have to say, although they don't have to agree.
I will embrace the fact that my friends and family are not being judgmental or hateful to one another for their chosen candidate.
I'm going to feel for those who feel that protesting while blocking a bridge, participating in riots, and burning trash in the middle of the street is necessary.
I'm going to think about my country, and what I can do as an American citizen to help.
I will await Trump's inauguration, and hope that he will follow through with his plan of action to Make America Great Again.
Finally, I'm going to go to bed tonight, and wake up tomorrow morning for class, go to work in the afternoon, and come home to my fur babies and my fiancé, like any other day.
The changes have not been made yet; Obama still has a few months left. (I think some people are forgetting that.)
Patriotism; defined as respect for the country's flag, a desire to see your nation succeed, and a deep, abiding love of your country. But, being patriotic doesn't mean you think your country's perfect — just that you love it.
I love this country, and I hope we will stand together as we make a change to the newly elected 45th President of the United States; Donald Trump, in January.
God Bless the USA.
