Moving away from home, you begin to take on some of the responsibilities that it means to be an “adult.” You learn the importance of growing up and come to realize the beauty of being on your own. It is the start of a whole new adventure.
Now that I’m older, I don’t depend on my parents as much. I am able to figure out problems on my own, instead of asking for advice before every move. I can stay up as late as I want, and I can eat ice cream for breakfast.
I have learned the importance of a clean living space and taking care of my belongings. Everything that I own I take care of with special precaution because I know the price of repairing something.
I am able to (somewhat) budget my money. I can plan out how much money I need for food for the week or any other additional items I need to buy. I have learned the difference between "want" and "need."
I feel as if I have accomplished so much in the little time I’ve been on this Earth. I feel as if I have come so far and that I’ve learned so much. I know it isn't possible to learn everything out there, but my assigned readings have taught me something.
I have opened my eyes to the harsh truth of the world. Not everyone will accept you and not everyone will like you. You cannot let that stand in your way.
I have to cook all my own food and clean my room or else it will not get done. I have created so many random concoctions in the kitchen, and I consider them my own secrets recipes.
As you get older, you begin to take on a large amount of responsibility. It might seem exceptionally hard, but it will only benefit you and allow you to become individually stable. Now that I’m older, I have realized why we experience life the way we do.
When we were younger, we had someone to take care of us. They were there to help us and teach us valuable lessons for the future. Now it is the future we dreamed about then, and we need to use our parent's advice to help shape and succeed in what we are trying to accomplish.
We must come to terms with the responsibilities adulthood entails. We were taught these concepts so that we will be able to flourish on our own. I know it is hard to accept that we are getting older, but it is happening. The most we can do is take advantage of what is happening and look forward to the future that is soon to come.
Remember to thank those people who shaped you to become the responsibile, young person you are today.
