Now That Brangelina is Over, What Now?

Even though Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have decided to split, do not give up on love in Hollywood.

We are almost halfway through 2016, and so far this year has been a crazy one. In the midst of a crazy election, dealing with school work piling up and all other stresses, the last thing we needed was the role model couple when it comes to love splitting up and ruining everyone’s goals for the future. Although I am a fan of Jennifer Aniston, there is no denying that Brangelina is the ultimate power couple. With all the disagreements in this country at the moment, I think this is some news that everyone can agree on as being tragic. After 12 years of movies, traveling all over the world, adopting a bunch of kids, having kids of their own and a marriage, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have decided to drop the biggest bombshell on us. Reports have been suggesting that Brad is devastated and I think it is safe to say that he is not the only one.

While many people may have their opinions about this couple that is considered to be a part of “Hollywood Royalty,” some good and some bad, I think it is safe to say that Jennifer Aniston is secretly very happy about this news, for others this may make them question if love is even real.

Brangelina was one of the ultimate power couples and was the beginning of what we know as “ship names.” Their ship name is by far the most recognized; sorry Hiddleswift, or anyone who has been with Taylor Swift. For all the people that looked to Brangelina as inspiration for what they wanted their future relationship with their significant other to be like, I know what you must be thinking: what’s next? Should I give up on love? Does love even exist? I am here to tell you to not lose hope! There are so many celebrity couples who are solid contenders to be considered the next Brangelina.

First there is one of the younger generation's favorite couples: Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.

This beautiful couple has been married for four years and already have one kid together and another on the way. Like Brad and Angelina, Blake and Ryan met on set of a movie, The Green Lantern, and have been together since. They are both extremely funny, as seen on Ryan's Twitter account and Blake's Instagram, as well as her late night appearances on Jimmy Fallon's show. They are funny, beautiful, and overall perfect. Another bonus is that he's foreign. Canada counts as foreign, right??

Another couple is Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Will and Jada have been married for almost 20 years now and have two kids together, Willow and Jaden. They have been together even longer than Brad and Angelina, plus the amount of time Brad was with Jennifer Anniston. Will is extremely funny as seen in his movies, late night appearances and he's the Fresh Prince of Bel Air! Plus Jada co-starred with Channing Tatum in the second Magic Mike movie. At movie premiers, Will always brings someone in his family, if not Jada. For the Suicide Squad premiere, he brought Jaden along, and he always talks about the importance of his family, or difficult it is to raise a teenage daughter, which I am sure most parents can agree on. Knowing the importance of family is extremely adorable.

Lastly, with the arrival of their baby Dusty Rose, we can add Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo to the list of "goal" couples.

While it is hard for me to not be extremely jealous of how beautiful this couple is, I mean come on she's a Victoria's Secret angel(!), it is hard not to admire this couple because of their love for each other, which is expressed all over their Instagram accounts or in interviews. Now with their daughter being born we get to see Adam, the gorgeous Maroon 5 frontman gush about his baby girl and secretly sob in a corner at how cute this new and growing Levine family is.

Even though Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have decided to end their marriage, I am here to tell you not to give up love because I have three couples for you to look up to, and there are many more out there!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
