Well, the time is almost here.
The trainwreck of an election we had in 2016 was the start of many people's worst fears; a Donald Trump presidency.
The former host of NBC's The Apprentice and former 4-time declarer of bankruptcy Donald Trump has manipulated and brilliantly forced his way into becoming the next occupier of the highest position in the United States government. Trump made promises of building a wall and "forcing Mexico to pay for it" (good luck with that), creating a database in which all Muslims must register for to "prevent terrorism", and also to "drain the swamp" (a promise he has already broken, by the way). Our country is lead by a reality TV star who happens to be a businessman who has no prior experience in government and thinks Muslims and Mexicans are the problem. Yeah, you read that right.
.
Unless you've been in a coma for the past few years and are just now waking up, this is not news to you. If you are like me and wanted this man to be as far away from the presidency as possible, you understand where I'm coming from. America basically let someone who has no problems with himself or others being racist, sexist, and homophobic (see Vice-President elect Mike Pence as a reference for this one). While there are many other issues with Donald Trump, I'd prefer to not get into them for the sake of my own sanity.
So, what about us who are afraid of this upcoming presidency and what Trump may do? The truth of the matter is, Trump can't change who we are. He can't take that away from us. Frankly, he's going to have to get through congress before anything he wants to do goes into action anyway. But the idea that a man like him can run a country scares us. To the feminists of our country who want to create true equality for all, do not stop what you have been doing. Continue the fight for your rights and never look back. T
o supporters of Black Lives Matter, don't ever tell you that what you believe in is wrong. Black Lives Matter TOO, and I think it's about time this country understands that what you guys do isn't to establish an idea of racial superiority, but to create peace and love between people of all races and to ensure that black lives don't get overlooked. Trump cannot stop you from what you believe in. If you are interested in protesting Trump on inauguration day, you can.
There are many places around the country holding marches and protests against Trump, and it is YOUR right to partake in those if you please. The next 4 years will be a fight, surely. But don't think that because Trump is president, you can't live a normal life. Continue to be you, continue to believe what you believe in, and hope that Trump can prove us wrong and be a good president, even if he is an awful human being.
