Christmas is coming. In just a few short weeks, it will ”officially” be here. Our bellys will be stuffed watching the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and we'll hear the faint sound of Jingle Bell Rock starting up in the distance. Well, for myself, this Jingle Bell Rock is loud and clear in the beginning of November.
I need to make it clear to everyone that I do not hate Thanksgiving. In fact, I love it. September through December is the best time of the year and the holidays and changing seasons make it so. Thanksgiving is a time for family and food. Although, Thanksgiving break is a tease, it is the light at the end of the tunnel for us, college students. It's the much needed break right before finals unload. I love it! I LOVE THANKSGIVING. But, you know what I love more? Christmas.
My favorite memories all involve Christmas. I look forward every year to making a mess in our kitchen with my mom trying out the next great Christmas cookie recipe. Putting up the tree while watching Christmas movies is a family tradition. Just writing these out is making me emotional so, anything to make my favorite season last longer is perfectly okay with me. That being said, after October 31st, I deem it acceptable to start slowly, but surely start celebrating Christmas. If you start early, it leaves you less stress during December. And let's face it, the holidays are a stressful time. If you start getting shopping done, you skip all the chaos later on (although lowkey love the chaos, but that's just me). Once Black Friday hits, you have time to relax and revel in the Christmas spirit. The decorations are hung up longer, the music is merrier for longer and the peppermint and evergreen smells last longer.
So, I'm going to listen to Christmas music in the privacy of my headphones and no one can get angry with me for it. I'm gonna drink hot cocoa by the mini Christmas tree my roommates and I have put up in our room and no one can take that away. Let us celebrate in peace. Merry Christmas.
