It's that Time of Year Again

It is November. You all know what that means. THE HOLIDAYS ARE COMING. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. This is the best time of the year.

This is the best time of the year because you can eat all the carbs you want and it doesn’t matter. This is because its carb season. That means you can just throw on a huge sweater after eating too many of your Granny’s homemade cinnamon rolls. Noo one will question the covering of your giant carb filled bellies. You can eat all the carbs because everyone else will be eating all the carbs too! Plus, another great thing about carb season is it give you a great New Year’s resolution.

This is the best time of the year because you hardly have to shave. You don’t have to because specifically in the rules of life it is officially NO SHAVE NOVEMBER. Men have the excuse not to shave their beards and women can wear leggings to cover up their Sasquatch legs.

This is the best time of the year because you get to see your family! Not only do you get to see your weird cousins but they willingly give you things! They have no choice but to buy you all your favorite things because they drew your name for the secret Santa! They also give you tons of hugs, this is because if they didn’t it would be socially weird! Also, even if your cousin is still holding a grudge against you because you said something bad about their boyfriend they still have to pass you the sweet potato casserole at dinner. This is the season of giving.

This is the best time of the year because snow. Snow is so terrible during other times during the year. It is not so terrible during the holiday season. Snow during the holiday season is like magic. Snow makes people drive their cars in all kinds of crazy ways. This means no school. This means no school because no one wants there kids on the school bus with crazy people driving around. Snow means sleigh riding. That means broken bones which means no more running on the treadmill. Snow is magic.

This is the best time of the year because it is so romantic. People always fall in love during the holiday season. It is cold during this time of the year. This makes a great excuse to ask that girl you have been wanting to talk to, if she wants to grab a cup of coffee. Because it’s cold she will probably say yes. That does not mean she will like you but at least she said yes? It is also so romantic because mistletoe. This shit is everywhere. You are bound to get stuck under it during some holiday party. This is the season of love.

This is the best time of the year, because all jokes aside… It really is the season of giving and of love. The holiday season means you get to see family you have not be able to see all year. It means that you get to sit and reminisce on all of the things you did this year, ways you have grown, mistakes you have made, and funny stories. It is the best time of the year because you feel something you don’t get to feel all year long. It is a magical feeling a feeling of happiness and a feeling of humbleness. It makes you thankful. It makes you think.

So as the holidays approach remember it is okay to eat the carbs that is what sweaters are for. It is okay to let your beard grow a little longer. But mostly remember to be thankful and humble for all the things you were given this past year. Not just the things, but the opportunities, and the new people you were given the opportunity to meet. Remember this time only comes around once a year! Happy Holidays and happy November!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
