No matter who wins, the day after the election is going to be spent in shock.
The millennials who are anxiously casting their first votes have been criticized for their fatalist attitude about this election. But I'll go ahead and argue that this IS a life or death, be-all end-all decision. This election is unlike any we've seen before, and I would care to bet the aftermath will be too. So here are a few tips for riding out the storm after we've elected our next Commander in Chief.
1) Stock Up On Junk Food.
Allow yourself the McDonald's you hate to eat, down a few sugary sodas, and eat tons of ice cream. This is no time for a diet. I, for one, will either be inconsolable or ecstatic when this is over. Either way I'm going to need lots and lots of carbs. So treat yourself. We all deserve it, after what this election has put us through.
2) Binge Watch Videos of Last-Term Obama
Cuddle up under some comfy blankets, make yourself a nice snack, and enjoy the lovely meme that is last-term Obama. It took this disastrous time for many of us to realize that Barack is our man. Let him make you feel better. Watch Couch Commander, The White House Correspondents' Dinner, and any other videos you can find.
3) Cry
Go ahead. Let it out. This is not okay. We aren't happy with our options so we aren't going to be happy with the winner. It's okay to cry about this. It may seem dumb and useless, but I hope we all have an emotional reaction to what is happening in our country right now.
4) Stay Safe
The backlash of this decision is going to be intense. No one really knows what to expect but I, personally, am preparing for the worst. We have to face the very real possibility of riots in big cities. Make sure you know what to do if this occurs near you.
Good Luck, America.
