As a citizen of the United States, I feel terrified.

As a human being, I feel numb.

As a woman, I feel defeated.

My heart breaks for humanity.

My heart breaks for the millions of people who may lose their lives.

It's because of the color of their skin,

Their religion,

Their sexuality,

Their gender,

Their disability,

And their economic status, that they feel fear.

Because of their differences, they may lose hope.

Hope for freedom and equality.

Hope to fight for the injustices against groups of people.

My heart breaks for the merciless,

For the peacemakers,

For the ignorant,

For the righteousness,

For all the hate,

For those seeking unity.

Unity may feel lost,

Love may feel lost,

Humanity may feel lost,

But, by coming together, we can take this time to heal.

To wipe our tears.

To raise our voices.

To stand for what is right.

Because united we are strong.

United we stand.

Divided we fall.
