NovelTea Tins are a fun new way to combine tea and novels. The tins are in the shape of books, opening in the front like one would open a novel. They all have punny names and are based on classic novels, such as War and Peach, based on Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace. There are currently six tins and tea blends for sale: Pride and Peppermint, Matcha Do About Nothing, Oliver Lemon Twist, Don QuixoTea, The Picture of Earl Grey, and War and Peach.

Personally, I’m not much of tea drinker, but I am a big reader and I couldn’t resist these. The first one I bought was Don QuixoTea. Unfortunately, my first NovelTea Tin showed up a bit dented, but when I contacted them the customer service was great and they sent me a replacement in perfect condition. I contacted them on Tuesday and by Friday I had a new tin that was packed with a lot more bubble wrap.

The second one I bought was Pride and Peppermint. I am absolutely in love with this tin. I think it’s beautiful and I love not only the art, but also the texture of the front. I don’t usually like tea, but I actually quite like Pride and Peppermint. My dad and I got out my abuela’s fine china and my family had a little tea party. When we first opened the little package of tea we thought the smell of peppermint was a bit overwhelming, but when we brewed it none of us thought the taste of the peppermint was was too strong. My sister didn’t want to try it because she’s not a tea drinker and she doesn’t like peppermint. However, when she did try a taste she said it wasn’t too bad and her biggest complaint was that it had gotten cold by the time I’d convinced her to taste it.

I’m a Jane Austen fan, so the fact that Pride and Peppermint exists makes me very happy. I’m also happy that NovelTea is working on a tea blend for Sense and Sensibility called Sense and Senchability. I asked if there was an approximate date for the release of this tin and they said that they don’t have a date yet. They also said that they might release it as just a tea blend first, then make a tin for it if it’s popular.

The tins come in two different sizes. Don QuixoTea, War and Peach, and The Picture of Earl Grey are the original collection and they are the larger ones. The British Blends collection, Pride and Peppermint, Matcha Do About Nothing, and Oliver Lemon Twist, come in a smaller size. The bigger ones have their tea come in them as one large package of loose tea, while the smaller ones have their tea in them as two smaller packages. Once you've finished your tea and want to refill your tin, the tea blends are available for sale without the tin.

NovelTea Tins will be launching an IndieGoGo on the first of April to sell paper cartons in addition to their tins. The cartons will contain the British Blends, including one they are currently working on called Pippi Oolongstocking.

Be sure to check out their site and take a look at their beautiful tins!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
