Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained

Failure is NOT an option.

Success=Strength

This is a bit of a short article but I think it’s one with content to ponder.

We all know people who tell us that failure isn’t an option while others may say it’s OK to fail as long as you grow and learn from it. As Einstein once said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Well, regardless of your stance on the topic of failure let me ask you something, what would you think if you were able to do anything and know failure isn’t going to happen or as the quote goes: “What would you attempt to do if you knew you would not fail?” so seriously here, what would you do? I guess you could solve all of the world’s problems because nothing is impossible, you could find a cure for cancer, or actually start a diet and stay on it all the way through because you aren’t destined for failure. You could take an unlimited number of hours in college and be on the dean’s list or in my case do something so simple such as riding a bike because falling and injuring yourself isn’t going to happen. You could take a chance and face your fears … the question is, if you had the chance would you do it? You could make any and all of your dreams come true because you know you aren’t going to fail; all those bucket lists can become a reality. One thing to remember in any of those cases would be that you have to at least try in order to achieve anything. As they say a starter is a doer so all it takes is a step forward and anything can happen. I’m sure you’ve all heard the old saying “nothing ventured nothing gained.” You can truly own your life because it will become all that you want it to be. Thinking isn’t necessarily believing or doing but it’s an interesting mindset. So tell me, if you knew you weren’t going to fail what would you attempt to do?

Let’s touch on another possible viewpoint of this quote …

This quote doesn’t actually define what failure is if you think about it. It just says “… you will not fail” it doesn’t say what is necessarily meant by that. Webster defines failure as “the lack of success” or “the omission of expected or required action.” That’s maybe a widely accepted dictionary definition but, how would you personally define failure? Personally, I think the word fail really is just the first attempt in learning. Failure doesn’t define who we are as people and one failure isn’t going to change our lives forever. Let’s think about this for a second, if failure isn’t guaranteed then how is that going to affect your life? If you’re able to attempt anything with no limitations how is that going to change you or your life? Or is it? Would people being able to do anything with guaranteed success would that change the tune and idea of the world as a whole? So many open ended questions with no right or wrong answers… Here’s one last one for y’all what would you attempt to do in your lifetime if success was the only outcome?

Let me know what you all think in the comments!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
