Nothing In Life Is 'One Size Fits All'

Everyone is different.

Do you ever feel like no one truly understands you? Like everyone sees you ‘with the crowd’? You know you’re completely different from everyone else or at least you feel different. People treat you just like everyone else and think you talk, walk, act and think just like everyone else, I know you’re not.

I understand when you say you feel different. When you feel that everyone treats you the same but no one is really treating you right or the way you feel you should be treated.

If you go and confide in someone, you’re really only confiding in him or her because you think they will understand, but they don’t and they never truly will. Even as much as someone says they understand you and where you’re coming from and what you’re trying to say, they never truly will because not one single person is the same as another. They don’t have the same mindset or train of thought as you do. They might think they understand but, in reality, they don’t.

There is a reason why there are different majors in college, different schools to go to, different doctors for certain things, different ways to do something. It is because everyone is different. Everyone has their own way of doing things, their own way of thinking and their own way of living.

Yes, there is a ‘one size fits all’ option in clothing but is it really true? A teen that weighs 90 pounds won’t fit comfortably into the same article of clothing as a teen that is 300 pounds. If that is the case then why is ‘one size fits all’ even an option?

If identical twins aren’t the same why are other people classified as the same? All of our minds work differently. Some aren’t as clear as others and some don’t work as well as others. Some people can’t classify their own train of thought so how can other people classify it for them?

Nothing in life is ‘one size fits all.’ What I mean is that no one on this earth is the same so you cant go thorough your life basing it off of someone else’s. Your mind works differently than everyone else’s. No one can tell you what’s wrong with you, what to do with your life, or how to live your life because theirs is different. Make your life what you want. You can’t compare yourself to others because you don’t know what they are going through or what they are doing.

I think it is safe to say that a lot of people feel they are misunderstood. That’s okay. All you can really do is try and help someone understand, even if it’s not fully. Your mind is your own and no one but you can tell you what its saying. Be proud of who you are and embrace it.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
