There are things in life worth remembering.

Life sometimes can get overwhelming. Overwhelming in a sense that all these good things are happening at once, or the opposite, every bad thing is happening all at once- at the same time, on the same day. It's hard to think straight about what and who are important in your life at these moments whether it's a time of happiness or a moment of weakness.

There are just some things in life that are worth remembering because these things always make you a stronger and better person.

Note to self:

1. Always remember where you came from.

You didn't get to the place where you are right now in just a blink of an eye. You worked for it, but remember that place you came from and the people you met. Because you are the person you are today because of that place and those people. Even if you don't visit that place often or see those people anymore, it is worth appreciating. It made you the person you are today.

2. Be thankful for your mom.

You fight with her because you are just like her. In your heart, you know she knows best and has your best interest at heart. In the end, she is usually right so just have the time and listen to her now.

3. Always call your grandma.

Someday way too soon, she is not going to be there. She loves you. She may tell you the same story over and over or need something repeated one too many times, but she cares so much about you.

4. Listen to your friends.

They know you best. They listen to you time and time again vent about all of life's issues. They have your best interest at heart, too. So when they give you advice, take it seriously. They love you more than anything and just want to see you happy.

5. Laugh.

Life is too short to dwell on stupid drama and worry about people who wouldn't jump over a puddle for you when you would swim an ocean for them. Surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you. You sometimes just need to have a really hard laugh to make it through the day.

6. Family is everything.

They have always supported you. They never stay disappointed for long even if you do make a mistake. They were the first to cheer you on at your first sporting event, and they will be the first people to hug you after you walk across the stage at graduation. They love and support you in all of your life endeavors.

7. It's okay to shed tears.

Tears aren't a sign of weakness. They may come in a moment of weakness, but they show you care. In the end, they make you stronger.

8. Be thankful for that "someone."

No one needs a significant other to be happy or be successful, but if you have someone that at the end of the day asks how you are doing or about your day- appreciate them. It is hard to find someone nowadays that accepts you for you, and if you have that person don't let them go. They are worth fighting for.

9. Actions speak louder than words.

Going the extra step in any given situation is always worth it. Show whomever that you do have big heart. Your actions are who you got this far in the first place. Make time to make a difference.

10. Believing in yourself is half the battle.

They always say if you can dream it, you can do it. In order to dream, you have to believe in yourself. Confidence is important and can truly take you so far.

It's no secret, life is tough. It is tough to get where you want to be going, but the fact that you are trying is worth something. You are worth something. Appreciate everyday and everyone in it because they are crossing your path for a reason. Everything happens for a reason.

Ready, set, you can do it.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
