NOTE TO SELF:

You give a lot of other people advice, but I think it's time you took some yourself. You have a wonderful life with wonderful people in it. Please remember that not a single person on this earth is perfect, so don't expect yourself to be.

You make a lot of mistakes, but that is a good thing because with that, you have also learned a lot of important lessons. You have a good heart, but be cautious, people can take advantage of that. Don't let anyone take your spark away.

It's smart to listen to others advice, but you are your own person and when it comes down to it, you ultimately make your own decisions. You can let peoples' voices influence you when you need, but make sure that you are alway making choices based on what you want and not what others want for you.

Don't EVER sell yourself short. You are a valuable person and are here for a reason, even if you don't know what that reason is. Always surround yourself with people who make you better and build you up. You will meet a lot of people in life, so associate yourself with those who love you and want the best for you, and do the same for them.

Ask for help when you need it. I know its hard to admit defeat, but there are so many people around you who would love nothing more than to pick you up when your're down. Whether in academics or general life, never feel bad for needing a little help, it's completely normal.

Listen to your parents, they are older, wiser and know what they're talking about. Make sure to call them often and tell them that you love them. They did their best to make you who you are today and you should appreciate that so much. They love you unconditionally and you should do the same. They are your #1 fans and your best support system, value that.

Know that the mistakes you make do not make you dumb, weak or less worthy. They make you smarter and stronger and so much more human. You will continue to make mistakes and learn lessons as you get older.

Do not rush in life. Continue to see the beauty in everything. Take your time to enjoy every moment. Give everything you do, all you've got. You are young and full of life so no rushing to grow up. While it's exciting to be 18 and living away from home on your own, be able to make your own decisions, be smart. You have all the time in the world to be an adult, so hold on to your youth as long as you can.

Trust your gut. If a situation doesn't feel right, get out of it. You should never feel guilty for your feelings. But on the other hand, do things impulsively and take risks when opportunities come along. It's important to do well in school and make good life choices, but its also important to have fun every now and then.

Be humble, be smart, be kind, and always be true to yourself.

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement.
