Dear Mom and Dad,

There is so much that you both have done for me over the two years at school and it's hard to put it all in words when wrapping up the year.

Thank you for always supporting me in so many ways through the months I'm at school. The time and effort you put in to helping me pack and unpack my things during move in day and move out day do not go unnoticed. The time you take understanding and listening to my struggles during the semester or my excitement from the new and different classes I am taking do not go unnoticed either.

Even though some things are hard to understand for you it is important to me that you let me be. You understand when I have time I will call and that is enough for you guys and that is what I need while i'm at school.

Also, caring about my GPA and my grades, it feels good to share my accomplishments and my progress as I move through this time in my life.

Thank you for always asking if I need anything or asking if I need money for anything. Even though most of the time i'm okay, the thought still counts.

Lastly, thank you for letting me be my own person and giving me the freedom I need.

Sincerely,

Your college student.

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
