To my mom, my best friend...

A Letter to My Mom
Good Morning Quote

Dear Mom,

There's so much I want to say thank you for - but not enough time, or space to write it all down. Throughout my whole life I can't think of a day that you haven't been there. From the start, you've made my brother and I your entire world, and I am so beyond grateful that you did. From getting us dressed for school when we were little, to making us our Halloween costumes - you put your all in everything. It amazes me how someone can be so strong, so dedicated, and yet, still has time to take a breath for herself.

I can't thank you enough for being my best friend, my role model, but mostly an amazing mom. Whenever I need advice about anything, you know every time exactly what to say, and how to make it better. You have this presence that lights up the room when you walk in, and it's something indescribable, but it always makes me feel so calm.

I love how you make everything look so easy. Whether it's cooking dinner, building a tree house, planting a garden, and caring for a family of four, you make it look effortless. Your work ethic is so strong, and it's inspiring, as it makes me want to work just as hard to so I can give my family one day just as an amazing life that you gave to us.

My favorite thing about you is your personality. You are so confident in yourself, know exactly what you want, and don't let any other opinions stop you. You know what's important, and don't focus on any of the minor, petty things that happen. You've taught me how to be independent, but have also made me realize just how important family is.

So, Mom, thank you for everything you've done. I love you more than words can ever say. Know that I'm always grateful for you, and always will be.

With lots of love,

Rachel

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
