Not Your Typical Feminist Post

True Feminism is about equal rights for ALL, not just women.

Everywhere you look, you see masculine men and skinny women and it's the idealized body. I am one of those skinny women, this is the first time in my life I've weighed over 100 pounds and it has taken some serious work. Like, three hours at the gym EVERY DAY kind of hard work. Seeing these women has brought even me down and has made me feel like I was not good enough. But this isn't why I need feminism, because I do. Feminism is all about equal rights for men and women and women getting the same benefits as men. I am all for this. Hell yeah we should get paid the same if we have the same amount of schooling and are doing the same job. Hell yeah we should have the same benefits and rights. HELL. YEAH.

But.

Listen.

I need feminism because someone who is very dear to me who is the most Christian woman and who has NEVER ONCE flaunted her body was raped because some man decided he wanted her. Another person I am very close to was raped because her boyfriend decided he was tired of waiting for her to say yes because she was waiting until she was married. It absolutely destroyed both of these strong, nothing but loving women. I need feminism because we teach women that these incidents were THEIR fault instead of teaching men not rape. "Maybe if you weren't bending over into your car TO GRAB YOUR SUITCASE, this wouldn't have happened." What??? "Maybe if you hadn't been laying on the couch watching TV instead of hiding your body it wouldn't have happened." You're kidding, right? Because "boys will be boys" but actually, no. Boys will own up to what they have done. This is why I need feminism.

We need feminism because men and women alike according to their "gender roles" must constantly dress a certain way and act a certain way and speak a certain way and....what?...

Men need feminism because they aren't allowed to FEEL NORMAL EMOTIONS unless it is ANGER because that is the MANLIEST emotion. There's a stigmatization around men being victims. There are so many shelters for battered women even some for abused elders..abused PETS... but what about battered men? I found ONE shelter. In Arkansas. Sorry, dudes, looks like you're moving if you want help. No. Men need feminism because TRUE feminism is NOT about rights for women. It is about rights for ALL. So that we can all be EQUAL.

Saying it again for the people in the back: TRUE FEMINISM IS ABOUT EQUAL RIGHTS FOR MEN AND WOMEN AND EVERY SINGLE HUMAN BEING.

But wait shouldn't that mean that men can be nurses instead of doctors? Yup. Does that mean that women can be doctors and not nurses? You betcha. Does that mean that...YOU BETCHA. Women and men are 1000000% capable of doing literally anything they put their mind to.

But, as a feminist (because yes, men can be feminists too. Boys, just putting it out there but it's okay to cry at "Old Yeller" that crap is sad), we need to remember that women were MADE to do things that men can NOT do and that men were MADE to do things that women can NOT do. I don't know about you but......child birth hurts enough, let alone coming out of boy parts......no, thanks. And honestly, as a girl I wouldn't even know what to do if I had guy parts. In all seriousness though, I'm going to say that one more time:

WOMEN WERE CREATED TO DO THINGS MEN CAN NOT DO AND MEN WERE CREATED TO DO THINGS WOMEN CAN NOT DO.

And can we be honest here? Feminism has gotten out of hand. Fight for what you believe in. Go for it. But when people feel the need to attach the Nazi symbol to the end of yours, you know something is probably wrong. "But haters gonna hate." Yeah. But isn't that a little much? Everybody needs somebody. When did it stop being our job to be that somebody and to instead start fighting everyone...but only fight if it benefits you. Feminism has taken a DRASTIC turn and this is not at all what it is supposed to be.

Individuals were walking around with vagina hats. Really? What if guys did that but with dick hats? You would be SO LIVID. So why is it okay for you? How would you react if the tables were turned? Answer me this: wouldn't it be better if we truly fought hand in hand for 50/50 and not just for women? I fight for men. I fight for women. I fight for whomsoever needs to be fought for. If a man kills someone and goes to jail for life, send me, a woman, to jail for the same amount of time if I do the same crime. I fight even if it isn't necessarily in my benefit. Like..oh...I don't know...a true feminist?.. Equal rights for EVERYONE, y'all. That's all I'm sayin'.

In recap: Everyone needs everyone so if you could just put your giant frickin' ego to the side we'd be better off because having the world fight together would actually change things. Don't just demand the change. Be the change.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

The transition into adulthood is never easy

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

9 Reasons Why Friends Are Essential In College

College without friends is like peanut butter without jelly.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
