Not Wearing Makeup Changed My Life

Save time, money, and hassle by omitting makeup from your morning routine.

Every day during my freshman to junior years of high school, I would make sure that my makeup was done. Whether I had to do it at school, in the car, or at home, I would make myself and my sisters (sorry!) late to school in order to do my makeup.

However, senior year I decided I would rather sleep in rather than take time out of my day to do my makeup. Mornings were less stressful, I was getting a little more sleep, and had more time to relax before leaving for school.

At first, it wasn't easy to go out without makeup on, but over time I started not to care. These days, you'll rarely find me with makeup on.

So these are a few things that happened when I stopped wearing makeup.

1. More sleep

If you know me, you know sleep is my favorite thing, like many college students. Instead of having to wake up at least a half hour to my makeup, I now have more time to sleep. Who is going to complain about more sleep? More sleep=happy me

2. Spending less money on makeup

Because I wear makeup rarely, I don't have to keep buying new makeup products constantly. Foundation is especially expensive (looking at you Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able), and I only have to buy a bottle a year. Although it's important to buy new makeup for sanitary reasons, not having to buy new foundation and concealer constantly because of use is a huge perk.

3. More confidence

At first, not wearing makeup daily feels weird. I felt so naked. However, I was also given the chance to embrace my natural look. Although I love wearing makeup, I love how my skin looks and feels without it. It's also refreshing to not have to worry about smearing my eyeshadow if I touch my eyes!

4. Clear skin

Not wearing makeup changed my skin. After a couple of months, my skin was completely clear. Although it'll vary from person to person, not having makeup clogging my pores helped my skin SO much. Not to mention if your makeup or brushes have bacteria on them you're putting that directly on your skin for hours on end. I never have to worry about makeup lingering on my skin and causing breakouts.

5. Not having to worry about sleeping in my makeup

We all know the feeling of being comfy in bed and remember that you still have makeup from earlier left on your face. Most of the time you're tempted to just leave it on, but this is horrible for your skin. If there's makeup on your skin all the time then your pores will constantly be clogged and this can lead to breakouts. If you don't wear makeup you don't have to worry about sleeping it in or residue from not washing your face well enough.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
