Well here we go again, back to one of the most joyful and confusing times of the year. Halloween has come and gone and it is time to make a decision based on one critical question: is it too early to begin celebrating the holiday season?
Some of us, including myself, have already dusted off our holiday playlists and have started writing up the ultimate gift list for our friends and family. On the other hand, there are those who stand firm in believing the holiday season shouldn't outshine Thanksgiving, but does Thanksgiving still mean what it used to?
What was once a holiday dedicated to spending time with family and celebrating everything they were thankful for has now become a day centered on gluttony and preparing for the Black Friday shopping spree that starts at a crisp six o'clock Thanksgiving afternoon. Now there is nothing wrong with wanting to celebrate Thanksgiving.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to celebrate anything that makes you happy in all honesty. I believe everyone should be free to celebrate anything they want whenever they want as long as they are not hurting or going out of their way to offend anyone.
That is exactly why there shouldn't be an issue with people like myself who enjoy celebrating the holiday season starting on November first. Nothing feels better than jamming out to Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You."
Celebrating what makes you happiest is one of the most important things to remember this holiday season and don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise.
