We're Imperfect, But Forgiven

STOP letting your sins define you.

Does one sin or area of sin come to your mind when I say "stop letting your sin define you?"

As a believer, I understand what it is like to live under the weight and shame of your sin. It gets tiring and it starts to dictate how you live and approach life. There's this feeling of being "not good enough" or of dirtiness and shame. You feel like when people look at you, they see your sin.

This is the work of our enemy. He tries to convince you that your identity is defined by sin. Big or small, the weight of our sin can weigh us down tremendously. But I have good news for you, you are not alone, you are loved, and you are FORGIVEN.

There is not a single person who walks into church on Sunday that does not have a sin buried away somewhere in the shadowy corners of their heart. We all struggle. James 3:2 says "For we all stumble in many ways [...]" and Romans 3:10 states "As it is written, “Not even one person is righteous."

There you have it. Proof that not a single person is without sin.

I have more good news. Although we are burdened with sin, we are forgiven and sin does not define us, the holiness of the One who saves us does. We do not have to labor under the weight of our sins. We are free; free of the ways of our past. In Christ, there is no condemnation and you are set free from sin.

We are forgiven. It is written in Hebrews 13:17, "I will forgive your wickedness, and never again remember your sins."

With Him there is forgiveness, mercy, and grace. So stop letting THAT sin define you. Your GOD defines you. He gives us value, worth, and wholeness. Seek Him. A wholehearted Christian is someone who struggles against sin and then gains the victory through Christ who gives him strength. Christians do struggle with sin...and then get the victory through faith.

"Your identity is not in the magnitude of your sin, but in your magnificent Savior."

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
