My cousin is probably the most adorable little girl in the world. We'll, that's my opinion, and I'm a little subjective to believe it. She's so tiny and just absolutely loves the movie "Frozen," which I am 'fortunate' enough to watch for the seventh time this month. Maybe that's a slight exaggeration.... Or not. As I'm writing this, she's totally engrossed in her movie, making little comments as if it's the very first time she's seeing Elsa and Anna. So cute! In the mean time, I'm sitting here watching briefly, understanding the adult humor, and typing this up. I'm not as cute, but definitely a multitasker at least.
Olaf is now singing about his intense love about summer. She just said, "He can't do that! He'll melt!" The ever safe adorable little girl who even admonished Anna for sliding down the stairs because of the danger. Upon seeing Elsa's ice castle: "Woah. That is SO big." See what I mean? She's adorable!
Honestly, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, I love my cousin, and I even love to babysit her. I know that sounds crazy. How many people actually like to babysit? Well, I really do have my reasons, obviously, or else I wouldn't have written this article. So, without further ado, here are the top reasons why I love to babysit my cousin.
1) She says the funniest things.
I said this before, but my cousin loves to make the most random comments based on what's happening around her. In the movie, Elsa is knocked out by the chandelier falling on top of her. As this scene happens, I hear her say, "Oh no! She died!" To most this isn't funny, but I naturally have dark humor. Plus, she's seen this movie hundreds of times. She knows Elsa is alive but acts like she doesn't. Every comment she makes is hilarious. She just asked if it hurts to sleep in my bed... Where did that even come from?
2) She's caring and compassionate.
She worries about everyone around her, and it makes me happy to see it. Many adults don't show as deep a concern for others, a caring and compassionate side that truly makes my cousin herself. A while back, I burned my wrist while baking brownies. Today, the burn is mostly faded, but she noticed it and asked me if I was hurt. She caressed my hand, making sure not to touch the burn until I said it didn't hurt.
3) I can spoil her without really spoiling her.
I love spoiling my cousins. Yes, I'm that kind of family member. It just makes me super happy to do. I'll happily giver her what I want as long as it's within reason. So, I'll give her the sweets and food she wants as long as it doesn't affect her allergies and she finishes it. I let her watch TV as much as she wants, but I make sure it's good shows that actually teach her things. I try to avoid the newer shows, you know the ones: "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse," "Doc McStuffins," all those other new generation shows. The only exception is really "Little Einsteins," after that I try to mostly put on "Blues Clues" and "Sesame Street."
And finally...
4) She still has her innocence.
Being an adult, I can barely remember the time in my life when I had as much innocence as my cousin does, the days when I would use my imagination and everything seemed perfect in the world. Unfortunately, I grew up, but I can see that innocence in my amazing little cousin. I love seeing her broad, toothy smile and having her ask me to spin her around or play hide and seek. It's something I'm going to miss when she grows older.
I love my cousin completely. She's adorable and always happy. She completely brightens my day when I see her. I'm grateful and happy to have her in my life.
