When you begin writing for a website like Odyssey, you are very excited to finally get your ideas out into the world. Every time you post an article, there is a piece of you that wishes that THIS will be the article that goes viral; THIS will be the day the world know who you are. But, today is not that day.

Stage 1: The Sureness


This is it. This is the best article I have ever written and ever will write. Everyone in the world needs to read this. Better tell my friends, family, and every person I’ve ever met about the article I am writing.

Stage 2: The Distribution


Finally! It's published! I’m going to share it on ALL the platforms! Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Reddit, LinkedIn, my Instagram bio, Facebook again….Okay. I’m just going to wait here and check every few minutes to see how many shares I get. This is going to be great! Rack ‘em up!

Stage 3: The Anticipation

Okay, let's check. It’s been one day. I should be internet famous. Let me check…

Stage 4: The Downfall

Eight. Eight shares. The brilliance of my mind is only worth eight shares.

Stage 5: The Despair

This was supposed to be my big break. I am never writing anything ever again. Goodbye internet, it was nice writing for you.

Stage 6: The Vicious Cycle

Well, enough wallowing. Better get started on my article for next week. I'm sure it will be a hit!
