Countless times after telling people my life goals, dreams, and aspirations I have heard the responses "Wow, I hope you are planning to marry rich" or "You better find yourself a rich man" and to be honest, it is starting to get really old. I have worked too hard in my life for someone to tell me that in order for my dreams to be obtainable I will need to snag a rich husband.

I know back in the day it was typical for the man to be the breadwinner of the family, but it is 2019 now, and oh how times have changed. In this day and age, women are standing up for themselves, fighting for what is right, and making their dreams come true.

As a young woman, I have so many goals and dreams that I hope will be a reality someday. I will admit that some of them are pretty far out there and to some may seem impossible, but with hard work and dedication, you really can do anything you set your mind to and you do not need a man to do it.

My entire life I have been surrounded by some of the strongest women I know, who never let me think about giving up even if I wanted to, and for that I am so thankful because they shaped me into the strong and independent woman that I am today, and I can only hope that I will be able to pass that on to my kids one day.

For all of the young women like me out there trying to make their dreams a reality, keep working and don't give up! Ignore the comments, hate, and stereotypes. There will always be people out there who try to bring you down or say you can't do it, but you can.

If you are dedicated and work hard, you will get there. And when you get there, you can flex on all the people who ever said you couldn't.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
