I Am Not Going Anywhere For Spring Break

And I am so happy about it.

College students: we've done it. We have made it halfway through second semester. We are halfway to finals week, which means we are halfway to summer. Although we may still be expecting snow here in beloved Michigan, we are still guaranteed our spring break.

Many of my friends, classmates, and coworkers have been going crazy getting their passports, packing, double-checking their flights, and studying for midterms on top of that. You may ask: aren't you stressed about all of that, Caroline? And no, I am not, because I am going home for spring break. I had high hopes for a weekend trip over break, but they fell through. Honestly, I am not even mad, because a break is not a break if you are worried about packing and traveling.

Now, don't get me wrong, I would love to be somewhere where the sun is shining and I can walk around in a swimsuit with no shoes on. I've been there, and I've done that. It is fantastic. But you know what feels just as good, and dare I say it better? Sleeping in my bed at home, eating my mom's homemade white chicken chili, and binge-watching tv with my sister. I will be using my week off to get ahead in my classes, catch up on Grown-ish and Jane the Virgin, and sleep.

Most importantly, I will be saving money. As a broke college student, I need a break from spending money. Spending the week in my house where my parents pay for the groceries and the water bill sounds like a vacation to me. But, to each their own I guess.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
