Don't give up on the weather just yet!

Fall Is Here, But Nobody Wants It To Be
Stephanie Brackett

Fall is my absolute favorite season! And it always has been, but lately I have fallen in love with the beauty that we have been blessed with. Summer is a favorite for a lot of people, but that is for a large number of reasons. Since school started for everyone else (except me!!) it made me realize that fall is supposed to be coming soon….but I don’t want it to! Here are a few of my thoughts as to why.

1. Weather

  • The temperature is getting lower, as well as the humidity. This change helps me want to be out more.
  • I like spending the time outside it helps in many ways. Sometimes exercise, sometimes just yard-work if needed (or able if it needs to be done)!
  • With the heat changing I don’t have to run right inside, but I am able to enjoy what is around me, and others, in my daily travels.

2. Plants

  • Despite the beauty of what comes from the fall of plants that are already out, there is still a lot more left from summer!
  • What we get in the summer time has a lot more variety and those colors, shapes, smells, and surroundings are going to be missed quite a bit.

3. Food

  • Food able to be cooked outside has a positive effect me. Being able to enjoy what is happening outside is something that I have always loved.
  • Since food can no longer be enjoyed outside you then only have a few options of how it can be done inside and you usually lose some variety, which can affect the flavor options available.

4. Actions

  • Currently I have been able to go for a walk, nice, quick and easy around the block. Doing this outside gives you a look at what changes are happening in nature.
  • At this point in the year is when everyone tries to do things involved with water too. Swimming, fishing, going out on boats for fun, or even exercise. Although some of those things can happen inside, doing them outside changes the way that they might even happen too.

5. People

  • As we move into the colder weather and the children have already started school, I don’t spend my days surrounded by others that are my age.
  • During the summer weather it is way better for all of those that I know for us to be doing something outside. Despite the obnoxious heat/humidity some days, there is more room for us to be outside than in.
  • Now with us all outside more in this weather we often see neighbors outside more too and give them all a quick “Hi” at least.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
