Last year I was in your position, I got the confidence to tell my parents I needed to switch schools and magic happened. I was now at the gates of a beautiful school which you and I both now call home. Only a few weeks have passed so you are still shiny and "brand new". Don't let this article fool you, there will be no talk about how to get through college but how to maneuver your way around this campus and get the best out of what is to offer here.
Friends/Dorms: When you move to Endicott you leave all your past friends behind, sadly that the outcome for any transfer student out there. Though you have promised to keep in touch with them, you need to start developing a new friend list here but there is one thing, people already have groups of friends. Thats why which dorm you live in is a contributing factor. There are so many dorms on campus that house a variety of social experiences, hopefully you have found yourself in one of the three more social dorms, including Brindle Hall, Peter Frates Hall and Reynolds Hall. There halls are filled with students who are in the same boat and need to make more friends that why you must leave your door open at all times for girls or guys from your hall can stop by, trust me when I say living in one of these dorms may not be the nicest but you will get the most sociable students around.
Academics: S.O.S time to start studying again, since professors have settled into teaching the material they are ready to start handing out the tests and exams. Though classes may be tough here at Endicott, there are many opportunities to help you succeed. Besides going to your professors office hours, go check out the second floor library that includes two great places: the writing center and the tutoring center. Even if you think you did good on a paper just go because every bit helps and it will continue to make your paper better. Also, there is a huge range of tutors to be found so take advantage, but do not wait until the day before the exam.
P.s. Don't worry it'll take you a while to remember the acronyms for all the buildings
Environment/Community: Transferring to Endicott is a gift, you have now become apart of a wonderful gull community. The environment of this campus is extremely positive and up beat, there is never a day when nothing is going on. You will soon look forward to your blue buzz email on Monday afternoon to plan out the rest of your week. Additionally, the extensive list of clubs and organizations you will become a part of can save your life from just sitting in front of your TV watching Netflix. Don't worry though, if a club runs late at night Endicott is as lit up as a christmas tree at night.
Hopefully these few pointers stay in your head throughout the first semester. This school is defiantly the place to call home. Welcome to the Nest.
