Not Everything Lasts

Not everything lasts.

We have all been there - looking at someone and thinking they are always going to be a part of our lives, and before we know it, we never expect all that fun to end. If you are anything like me, you plan for the future and what steps you need to take to get there. You want to meet as many people as you can because they will help shape you and your future. A majority of the time, these plans do not always go as planned. We are surrounded by an ever changing environment, and as we make decisions based on certain circumstances, they create our behaviors.

I have found one of the toughest lessons being able to accept that not everything lasts. We have people that have been a part of our lives for years, some only for a couple months.

Some of these people leave you by choice, others are forced out for the wellbeing of yourself.

Some people teach us lessons and make happy memories, memories that will last a lifetime.

Some will enter our lives for comfort and support during the difficult times, but leave as soon as the hard times pass.

We have some people that teach us to love ourselves for who we are, without trying to change us. They teach us to embrace ourselves with a positive attitude, no matter what life throws at us.

After a heartbreak, some come to patch our heart and make us believe it is possible to love someone again.

As some of you may know, I am a strong believer that God has a plan for everyone. Life is unpredictable and can change suddenly, but regardless, we have an impact on everyone around us, and God's plans are detailed and have a purpose, even if they seem painful at first. We need people in our lives, important people to help us learn, mature, and shape ourselves. No matter what, we will eventually end up where we belong.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
