not everything is meant for you, and that's okay

I have always struggled with accepting that not everything is meant for me and my life. I have applied for jobs that I haven't gotten, even interviewed for one that I really wanted and didn't get. I thought about all the possible reasons for them not to hire me. Did I not answer a question correctly? Did I present myself well enough? Did I say something stupid? Was I not good enough? ...hold up. "Was I not good enough?" I have asked myself this question SO many times and I know most people do. Whether it is a relationship not working out, a friendship falling apart, or not getting hired for a job. I find myself always asking "was I just not good enough for this person / job / whatever situation?" I always have to take a step back and remind myself that not everything is meant for me. I am a firm believer in the overused saying that everything happens for a reason. Yes. Even that relationship that didn't work out. It happened for a reason! That job I didn't get? It happened for a reason! Want to know why? Because I got an even better job that I love more than I thought I would have loved the job that I didn't get. When it comes to relationships, there are hard pills to swallow after a breakup. I know so many people question their worthiness, but your/my worthiness is not the problem. Something we all have to understand is that we change everyday. We're changing all the time! Sometimes you outgrow people or situations and they just aren't meant for you anymore and THAT'S OKAY! Change is scary, but it can be great. It just means there are better things in store for you and your life. So when you find yourself questioning why it didn't workout with someone / a job / a certain situation, just remember that there are bigger and better things meant for your life and you just have to have patience.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
