Every single day I am reminded that there are not enough hours in a day and the reality is there never will be. While 24 hours many seem like a long period of time, it always manages to come and go in the blink of an eye.
College students tend to struggle when it comes to time management and as a result often deprive themselves of the amount of sleep they actually do need. It is common for students to deprive themselves of sleep in order to complete a paper or even study for an exam.
Amongst college students, sleep deprivation is largely due to the lack of planning, organization, and time management skills. Between school work, extracurriculars, jobs, and internships, and other commitments, it is very challenging to successfully balance so many different commitments.
Time management skills are vital in productively making the most of each day and completing an agenda. Often times, college students notice they are depriving themselves of sleep for a period of time being that school work tends to pile on for most classes at a certain point in the semester. As a result, it is common for students who are sleep deprived to get sick due to their weak immune system as well as a decrease their academic performance.
No, I am not saying that it is realistic to go to sleep early every single night, I don’t always follow that myself. What I am saying is that a lack of sleep is not beneficial or advantageous at all and everyone needs sleep in order to function properly.
There are going to be plenty of days and nights that seem endless and that is a challenge that all college students face at one point or another. Whenever possible, complete your work ahead of time and get to sleep at a decent hour, you will feel refreshed and so much better in the morning.
