Not All Millennials Want To Ban Guns

Some of us just want restrictions.

After the mass shootings that have taken place, gun control and gun laws have become a heated topic in this country. In contrast to the Facebook articles and some who try and argue, not everyone who is not supporting guns, supports a gun ban. I always come across people on Facebook who try and explain through images of shoes from the Holocaust what it means "when people give up their gun rights". Well, I am here to say, not everyone who does not support guns is automatically against you. Yes, there are those out there who do not want guns in the country and they have a right to feel that way, but that is not the majority, not even close. So, before you try and educate those on why guns should not be banned, let's look at the facts.

Most millennials today do not want to just flat out ban guns. In fact, according to Politico Magazine, "respondents aged 18-29 are the least likely in the country to support a renewed ban on assault weapons." This means most millennials are fighting for gun control or the freedom to own a gun, not wanting to ban them like they were in the Holocaust.

Now what exactly does gun control mean? Well most people who want gun control want the process to be more regulated. They want people to still be able to obtain guns, but through the process. According to a pie chart from Hilltop Views, 57% percent of people said gun laws should be more restricted and according to a bar chart from the society pages, around 95% of people said they favor background checks. So from the numbers, most people want to see restrictions on guns. They want it to become harder for people to obtain a gun through more serious and intense background checks and the guns laws in this country becoming more restricted or limited. According to a pie chart on CNN, 55% of people favor stricter gun laws.

So the country can calm down. Most Americans do not want to ban guns all together and our country will be okay in the future. In fact, around 90% opposed the idea of no guns period according to the bar chart from society pages.

To all the images on social media provoking ideas of fear for the future. I am not a bit concerned where the country is headed. Again not a gun ban, but a regulated process.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that.
