As a kid growing up in the '90s, I had the pleasure of experiencing so many quality ideas that unfortunately were only popular for my childhood. Sadly most fads today are in the forms of technology and things like dress up Barbie and Bop-it are simply boring ideas of entertainment. After nannying for two kids last summer, its clear that the value in interaction during playtime is severely lacking. By bringing over some of my old toys, I saw that they actually were enjoying their time together while I reminisced on my favorite memories of the first grade.
1. Easy Bake Oven. The food was definitely not edible, but sure made you seem responsible trying to make your own dinner.
2. Furbies. Quite creepy that pressing their tongue makes them talk to you.
3. Mouse Trap. Once you put together all 957 pieces, your'e already bored with it.
4. Polly Pockets. Couldn't even find half the pieces. Especially Polly's purses and shoes.
5. Fashion plates. The inner designer in us all.
6. Pretty Pretty Princess
7. Playmobile
8. Hungry Hungry Hippos
9. Brain Quest. My mom used to bring this when we would go out to dinner. Sneaky way to get the education in.
10. Moon Shoes. Not even sure how these were fun? You couldn't even walk down the driveway without taking them off.
11. Skip-It. Everyone in my cul-de-sac had one. Every night in the summer after dinner we would play outside until our parents yelled t us to come in for bed.
12. Magic Mitt. The baseball mitt for females.
13. Perfection. The anticipation to see if you could place all of the pieces before the whole box exploded.
14. Poo-Chi. A robot dog, how clever.
