Take me back to the good ole days.

Nostalgic About The 90s

I've been feeling pretty nostalgic this week so I decided it would be fun to write an article about the best things about my childhood. Okay so I was born in 1997 but I still like to claim to be a 90s kid. There were many great things that I experienced in the early 2000s but I still like to claim that you only remember these if you were born in the 90s.

1. Disney Channel had good shows.

I can't stand to watch Disney Channel now because the shows just make me want to pull my hair out. Remember the shows, "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody", "That's So Raven", "Lizzie McGuire" and "Hannah Montana"? Yeah, I miss those. And seriously, Lizzie McGuire is my hero.

2. Tamagotchis

REMEMBER THOSE THINGS? I had like five and I could never keep up but I was determined. They taught me that I needed to make time in my day to take care of my pet? child? I don't know what to call that thing, but it was sure stressful.

3. My entire life could be figured out by a game of MASH.

Thanks to the game of MASH, I knew exactly who I was going to marry, what kind of car I would drive, the amount of children I would have and where I would live. Maybe I should play a game of MASH right now because I need to figure my life out.

4. If MASH didn't give me the outcome that I wanted, I could always play "Push the Button"

This would definitely give me the results I wanted.

5. VHS

There was nothing worse than wanting to watch your favorite VHS and finding out that the last person forgot to rewind it. This taught me how to patiently wait while the VHS was rewinding.

6. Hit Clips.

Nothing like hearing thirty seconds of your favorite Backstreet Boys or Britney Spears song. I owned three different songs. That's a whole minute and a half of music.

7. Those cool push pencil things.

These were the best. You were the coolest if you owned one. It was the end of the world if you lost one of the pieces. Rest in Peace, pencil.

8. The Amanda Show.

I didn't really learn anything from this show. I just know that it was quite possible the greatest comedy show to ever exist and I would do anything to get that Amanda Bynes back. Mah-ha!

9. Bill Nye.

Apparently there is some guy on YouTube that is trying to be Bill Nye. One does not simply just become Bill. Bill taught me everything I don't about science. Science Rules. Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill Nye the Science Guy!

10. Kidz Bop.

They ruined every possible song known to existence but it was the only CD that your parents would let you listen to so it did the job.

11. Mr. Rogers Neighborhood

12. Kool-Aid Bursts

These were quite honestly the greatest drink to ever exist. And the blue flavor was the best.

13. Beanie Babies

I had like 300 of these. My favorite was the flying pig.

14. Webkinz

These kind of took over my addiction to Beanie Babies. I had like 15 of these too. Where did I keep all of these animals? AND we got to play online with them virtually, what more could a kid want?

15. Oregon Trail

I will never forget playing this game in third grade on the computers that were bigger than three modern day computers combined. The game was in green font. Good times.

16. Star Lab

I don't know if all schools did this but it was the greatest day of school ever.

17. Heelys

I was never cool enough to own a pair of Heelys but you bet I owned a pair of knock-offs that caused me to have two skinned knees and a bruised elbow.

18. Instant Messaging

Better race home from school and get on Google Chat so I don't miss out on the crazy things my friends are doing. This was the bees knees in sixth grade.

19. Bubble Tape

This delicious gum holds it flavor for about 4.5 seconds. Enjoy!

20. When Trix cereal was actually in shapes.

I refuse to eat Trix anymore because they are not in the shape of the fruit anymore. And they are for kids.

21. Paint

How did it entertain me for hours on end? It's probably because we didn't have Internet access.

22. Paper Book Covers

This is still something I never quite conquered but I remember it being the highlight of the first day of school. Mainly because I got to decorate it. With duct tape.

23. Baby Bottle Pop

"THE GREATEST CANDY OF ALL TIME" - An actual quote from my childhood. My adult self is ashamed.

Thank you for being nostalgic with me! There are days that I wish I could go back to being a kid and enjoy these things. It's sad that today's kids will never know what it was like to live without technology all the time.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
