The Life Of Ky: TMI Tag

As I am new to the Odyssey community, I would like to take this time to introduce myself. If I do this correctly, you will find out information about me that you probably never actually wanted to know. I will be completing the TMI tag, which is generally reserved for YouTube, but I will make adjustments. Let’s get started!

1. What are you wearing?

I am rocking my standard T-shirt and athletic shorts. And by rocking I mean I look like I just rolled out of bed. #IWokeUpLikeThis

2. Have you ever been in love?

If you count extreme infatuation with Harry Styles as being in love, then absolutely.

3. Have you ever had a terrible breakup?

I wouldn’t say so, no.

4. How tall are you?

I am 5 feet, 5 inches. Average height, average life.

5. How much do you weigh?

I really don’t weigh myself unless I am at the doctor’s, but I am usually somewhere between 115 and 118 pounds. However, if they keep serving cotton candy ice cream in the dining center at school, that number could very well change.

6. Any tattoos?

No sirree-Bob. I am a blank canvas and probably always will be!

7. Any piercings?

I have six piercings; three in each earlobe. I am constantly thinking about getting more, though, so we'll see how that goes!

8. OTP?

For you humans that haven’t had the life sucked out of you by a fandom, I will explain what OTP means. It stands for “One True Pairing,” and it basically means a couple of people that you really want to be together or stay together. They can be real people or fictional characters. Personally, I have several. Ross and Rachel (I mean c’mon), Payzer (Liam Payne and his ex Danielle Peazer; nothing against his current girlfriend, Sophia, but Payzer was just my first OTP and I will go down with that ship), and basically any cute couple I see ever. Including animals. I’m in love with love.

9. What is your favorite show?

I thoroughly enjoy low-stress shows that don’t make me want to rip my hair out. For instance, “Scandal” is an amazing show, but just thinking about all of the corruption and deceit in that plot makes my palms sweat. Therefore, I prefer comedies. My top three are “Will & Grace,” “Friends,” and “New Girl.” Also, I can’t forget about my non-comedic exceptions. “Law & Order: SVU” and “American Horror Story” are also a couple of my top choices when I’m looking for a way to procrastinate doing anything productive.

10. Who are your favorite bands?

My all-time favorite band is The 1975, but I also love One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, Twenty One Pilots, Arctic Monkeys and Fleetwood Mac. I’m sure there are others, but I can save that for another article.

11. Something you miss?

I miss my best friend, Kaylee so much. I am so excited for her to start her new adventure in Chicago, though! Search ‘Kay Roland,’ she also writes for the Odyssey at her school!

12. Favorite song?

Right now, my favorite song is “Hair” by Little Mix, but my favorite song ever of all time in the history of humanity is “Settle Down” by The 1975. Please listen to it if you haven’t already.

13. How old are you?

I am 19 years old at this present moment.

14. Zodiac sign?

I’m an Aquarius, son!

15. Quality you look for in a partner?

I would have to say even I am not completely sure of what I look for, but in all people, I admire open-mindedness, honesty, loyalty, and someone who can make me laugh.

16. What is your favorite quote?

THIS IS TORTURE, SERIOUSLY. I LOVE QUOTES. However, I am going to go with “This too shall pass” because it reminds me that no matter how great or how terrible my life is at the moment, that it won’t last forever and life doesn’t wait for me.

17. Who is your favorite actor?

Emma Stone is literally true bae.

18. Favorite color?

It’s a difficult color to explain, but I will insert a picture of some popcorn I bought solely because the color of the bag was all I’ve ever looked for in a hue.

19. Loud or soft music?

It really depends on what I’m doing or what sort of mood I’m in, but I generally go for loud music.

20. Where do you go when you’re sad?

My bed, for sure.

21. How long does it take you to shower?

If I am going to shave and shampoo and condition and all that stuff, it will take me a good 20 minutes. If I am just washing my body, it takes me about three.

22. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

If I am going to class, a solid 10 minutes. I’m pretty low-maintenance.

23. Have you ever been in a physical fight?

Are you kidding? I bruise like an over-ripe peach.

24. Turn ons?

Nice hands, nice smile, nice person. Also, intellectual maturity and a good sense of humor.

25. Turn offs?

Arrogance and insensitivity are my biggest no-nos.

26. The reason I joined the Odyssey?

I have always loved reading and writing, and I think it’s amazing that students from across the country have a platform to share their creativity!

27. What are your fears?

My two biggest fears are spiders and hatred of any kind.

28. Last thing that made you cry?

I read an article about Rosemary Kennedy yesterday that made me cry. It really doesn’t take much because I feel everything deeper than most.

29. Last time you said you loved someone?

About 10 minutes ago when I was texting Kaylee!

30. Meaning behind your name?

My mom liked the name Kylie and my dad thought she made it up. That’s really it.

31. Last book you read?

I don’t really find time to read as much as I would like to, but I read “Paper Towns” by John Green a while ago and it was amazing!

32. Book you’re currently reading?

I am reading “Frankenstein” for a humanities class.

33. Last show you watched?

“The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” because I have a huge crush on him and I want to work on his show. Like, I will powder his nose if that’s the only position open.

34. Last person you talked to?

My wonderful mother!

35. The relationship between you and the last person you texted?

I was making bowling plans with my friend Katie!

36. What is your favorite food?

Crackers. I wish I was kidding.

37. Place you want to visit?

LONDON, OH MY GOD

38. Last place you were?

I was in the kitchen scrounging for snacks. I chose Ritz crackers.

39. Do you have a crush?

Unfortunately, yes. I don’t have a great track record when it comes to crushes.

40. Last time you kissed someone?

I kissed my mom about seven minutes ago because she forces me to show affection when I’m home from college. Also because I love her.

41. Last time you were insulted?

I probably insulted myself, honestly. I have a problem with negative self-talk that is an ongoing battle to resolve.

42. Favorite flavor of sweet?

Strawberry, hands down.

43. What instruments do you play?

I’ve been told my air-drums solos are pretty epic. Actually, I haven’t been told that.

44. Favorite piece of jewelry?

I have a little turquoise and silver ring that I love!

45. Last sport you played?

Solitaire.

46. Last song you sang?

“Omen” by Disclosure and Sam Smith. He can do no wrong in my eyes, and Disclosure make some amazing beats!

47. Favorite pick-up line?

I’ve worked at a Walgreens in a shady part of my hometown for the past three summers, so pick-up lines kind of just make me want to vomit now.

48. Have you ever used it?

I am very awkward and have no game whatsoever, so I avoid pick-up lines as I would most certainly mess them up and embarrass myself.

49. Last time you hung out with someone?

I hung out with my mama and twin sister, Kelsey last night!

50. Who should answer these questions next?

I would love to know a little bit about anyone that stumbles upon this article, so if you would like to answer a couple questions, just shoot me a comment or a tweet or a Facebook message!

Welp, that’ll do it for today! If you made it this far, you are truly a champ. I promise my next post won’t be so long-winded. Thanks for reading!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
