7 North Jersey Paths You'll Want To Take This Summer
James Fleming

Love the outdoors? Love to explore? Looking for places to wander and more? Want new scenery when walking or running? Looking for somewhere to relax? Need a new spot to catch fresh air? You'll be impressed by the beauty some parks and paths near you hold. Below is a list of North Jersey paths you'll want to take this summer:

1. Verona Park:

This beautiful park located in Verona, New Jersey will leave you impressed, and longing to return. Follow a series of paths circling a sparkling lake. Paddle boats are available for use near the small restaurant that lies on the lake. The wide range activities available include walking, running, fishing, and playground fun. There are even opportune workout sections! This park's variety makes it appealing to all age groups and the perfect spot to hang this summer.

2. Packanack Lake:

One of Wayne, New Jersey's best landmarks can be found in its Packanack Community. Packanack Lake is the ideal location to take a stroll, get some fresh air, and even catch the sunset after a long day. Paths and roads encircle this rather large lake, where you can always find people hanging out. Need a peaceful rest? There's plenty of options, from a pretty gazebo, to benches sitting right on the lake's pennisula. Be sure to "walk the lake" this summer!

3. Goffle Brook Park:

Looking for a smaller, quieter place to explore? Roam Goffle Brook Park in Hawthorne, New Jersey. This park is a nice nature-filled spot to get away. It features cement pathways and a cute little waterfall. Get your daily dose of exercise in while admiring the landscapes Earth has to offer!

4. West Essex Trail:

The West Essex Trail, starts in Verona and stops in Cedar Grove, New Jersey. This trail is a great place to take a casual walk, improve your running skills, or ride your bicycle! Hidden within the trees of a forest, this dirt pathway will lead you to an unexpected view, and a very cool spot to wander! Stride throughout the West Essex Trail to reach one of the most serene views you'll ever witness.

5. Hoboken Waterfront Walkway:

If you haven't yet tread along Hoboken, New Jersey's Waterfront Walkway, make it a priority to do so this summer. Explore along the Hudson River. Bring a blanket for a picnic or just to chill on the grass. Ride your bike or take an adventure on foot. The possibilities are endless. Find out what the Hoboken Waterfront Walkway has to offer for you!

6. Duke Farms:

This plot of land located in Hillsborough Township, New Jersey had me blown away. Referred to by some as an oasis, Duke Farms, has multiple different places to explore, and outdoor activities to engage in. Participate in programs held on this estate, or simply just walk around to observe its' many features.

7. Laurelwood Arboretum:

This nature-filled getaway located in Wayne, New Jersey has a simple, yet magical feel to it. Flowers surround the area, as do cool spots to sit and think. The Laurelwood Arboretum is personally one of my favorite places to walk in nice weather. Go for a jog, paint a picture or read a book surrounded by this stunning landscape.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…
