Wrightsville Beach and Wilmington are places that will quickly steal your heart and make you fall in love with their quaint charm and unique character. Living here for my almost my whole life, every day I grow an even greater appreciation for this place I call home. The "oohs" and "aahs" I get from people in response to informing them of my hometown is a common reaction that anyone would have after visiting this place. I put together a list dedicated to any foodies, adventurists, and explorers of places that you really cannot miss or skip out on when in "the 910."
1. Tower 7
A local restaurant with the perfect beach vibe and delicious food, Tower 7 is a place you can go with your hair still salty and covered in sand to get some of the best tacos and margaritas you will ever have. I typically find myself munching too hard on the chips and salsa that I can barely finish my quesadilla, but this is hands-down my favorite restaurant on the island.
2. Fish House and Bridge Tender
While we're on the topic of food, you definitely need to check out Fish House and/or Bridge Tender. Both restaurants are owned by the same local family, who happens to be some of my close friends and some of the nicest and sweetest people I have ever met, creating a fun and friendly vibe.
The menus are almost identical, with Bridge Tender offering a nicer and more formal setting. Both places are on the water and offer stunning views of the waterway. These are definitely places you cannot miss. (Oh – I forgot to mention that you will eat the best crab dip of your life here.)
3. Greenfield Lake
If you plan your trip right, you can score a ticket to one of the many amazing concerts held at the beautiful venue of Greenfield Lake. Greenfield Lake Amphitheater has hosted artists such as Brett Eldridge, Moon Taxi, Passion Pit, and so much more. With the incredible lake view and serene picnic spots, catching a concert at sunset is something that is definitely worth your time.
4. One Tree Hill
If you're a super-fan of the television series "One Tree Hill" (like myself), Wilmington is the place for you. There are several places all around town where you can see some of your favorite sets from the show. Spots include most of the characters homes (such as Lucas, Peyton and Brooke), Karen's Café, the Riverwalk and, of course, the infamous bridge (hate to say it, but #ifykyk).
5. The Loop
Last, but not least, one of my favorite places I spend my time is the loop at Wrightsville Beach. Whether you are a walker, runner, biker, or a four-legged friend, you can follow the 2.5-mile path that circles through the heart of town. While following the loop, you find yourself seeing some of the best and most popular places on Wrightsville Beach. You also get to cross both bridges giving you some of the most spectacular views of the island.
