"Let me repeat what I have repeated for many months now," replied Hillary Clinton. "I never received nor sent any material that was marked classified." You've heard the claims, the snap chat jokes, and the party bias from both sides. However, it's time to take a step back, put on our glasses, and look through the lenses, regardless of political beliefs and who you're voting for this November. Taking a look at thee facts, we can determine if action should be taken against the former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton.
It began in 2014 with Clinton agreeing to turnover her emails to the state department after the New York Times reported that she had used a private server. Next, August 2015 brought us the news that the FBI had begun to look into the emails to determine if any wrongdoing had taken place. The same source also mentions that Attorney General Loretta Lynch agreed to accept the FBI's recommendation to put charges at Hillary Clinton if they recommend to do so. During the past year Clinton was interviewed by Congress and by the FBI themselves. Clinton was actually confirmed to be under criminal investigation by the white house on June 9, but no charges had been brought up yet.
So what really started these events? What was the big deal about using a private email server? The fact was simple. A portion of the emails were labeled as classified. The FBI confirmed that two emails Hillary Clinton sent were actually classified at the time she sent them. Several chains of emails Hillary had been involved in was confirmed by the FBI to contain secret information. Eight chains of emails that Hillary was involved in using her private server contained the highest level of confidentiality, top secret.
Everyone makes mistakes and forgiveness should be a theme in our lives and in our country's. Saying that, Hillary Clinton kept using her private server several times. A Russian official confirmed that he was able to hack into Clinton's private emails, and he believes that nearly a dozen others also found a way in. This means that unknown persons from anywhere in the world could have access to top secret information that Hillary Clinton sent and opened up using her private email server. It's unknown and unconfirmed whether a radical terrorist group like ISIS found their way in, but that would be devastating and dangerous for the people of the United States of America. Whoever the next leader is, we need them to protect our people, not be careless or lazy.
In the end, we've come to conclusion that according to several sources and the FBI, Clinton falsely reported that classified information was kept hidden and sealed. The FBI made a decision, however, to not recommend charges even though they harshly criticized Clinton for breaking regulations. Loretta Lynch confirmed she would also decline to press charges. It's unknown why the FBI would openly criticize Hillary Clinton and accuse her for using her private server to hold top secret information, but not press charges. When it comes down to it, Clinton not only broke rules, but also lied to cover it up. Bernie Sanders or whoever the Democratic party would select in her place should be the Democratic nominee. Hillary Clinton should face consequences.
