The Superfruit You Haven't Heard Of

It's not a miracle, but it does heal.

Through my workplace, I've been introduced to the amazing folks over at Hawaiian Organic Noni. On their farm in Kauai, they produce, package and sell 'Noni Fruit Leather.'

Relatively unknown in the way of superfoods, Noni is actually an old Polynesian medicinal fruit. The problem with Noni is that it has a shelf life of about two days, since fermentation starts to occur rapidly after ripening, which means it cannot be distributed and sold commercially. This led to the creation of Noni Juice. Unfortunately, Noni Juice is made in a way that renders any potential benefit useless. Read more about Noni Juice and why it should be avoided here.

At Hawaiian Organic Noni, the fruits are compressed to make fruit leather at less than 115 degrees Fahrenheit, because enzymes start to denature at 118 degrees Fahrenheit. Noni juice is usually pasteurized at 130 degrees Fahrenheit, killing pretty much all of the useful compounds in the fruit. Noni fruit leather, on the other hand, is as close as you can get to eating the fruit itself. It retains almost all of the fruit's compounds, while increasing the shelf life to two years, without any required refrigeration!

Here are a few of my favorite things Noni can do:

1) Lower blood pressure & cholesterol (good for diabetics.)

2) Noni fights cancerous cells and raises the T-Cell count. In one case, Stage 4 colon cancer was cured in four months by taking five to seven 2inchx2inch pieces of Noni fruit leather daily. The fruit has no side effects, and can actually help counteract the negative effects of chemotherapy. In the worst cases, stage 5/terminal patients had vastly increased quality of life when eating Noni daily (no pain or depression).

3) An antioxidant, one 2inchx2inch strip of Noni fruit leather contains around 6,000 ORAC units of antioxidants. The recommended daily intake of ORAC units is supposed to be 3,000-5,000. Read more here.

4) It's a super effective painkiller, about 75 percent as effective morphine, with none of the side effects. This makes it extremely effective for arthritis, toothaches, bruises, inflammations, etc. In one case, an athlete who pulled his Achilles tendon made a complete recovery in about four to six weeks with daily application of topical Noni (such as the Lavender Lotion).

5) It's a natural flea, tick and worm preventative in animals. Shots aren't needed if the animal is fed Noni regularly. The fruit has also been known to cure horses of Lyme disease, and heal hip dysplasia. It also promotes growth of fur.

6) Noni has been known to cure Psoriasis, acne, heal scars, remove skin tags, and greatly reduce liver spots.

And there's so much more it can do...

If you did not previously know about Noni, Fruit Leather, or anything else mentioned in this article, I hope this has proved educational. It may just help you or a loved one in a time of need.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
