Mine

The last article I wrote, Being A GDI Girl In A Sorority, seemed to be relatable for a lot of girls. However, some girls thought it seemed like a little bit of a bash on my sorority and Greek life as a whole. So, I would like to take this opportunity to explain more about my article.

My article is more about feeling like a little bit of an outcast in a group of girls and not caring so much about what everyone else cares about. Even though at times you may feel like an outcast, you actually have a lot of friends. These friends become lifelong friends. I am so grateful to my sorority for giving me this bond with girls that are some of the funniest, sweetest, wildest and best people I have ever met. I would not give my friendship up with these girls for anything. There are some many things that are great about a sorority that I would like to touch on.

1. You get a T-shirt for every occasion.

Every time your sorority gets together, you get another shirt. I have never heard anyone complain about getting T-shirts. It feels like you never have to buy another shirt ever again.

2. It's easier to make friends.

If you are a shy person or not that good at breaking out of your shell, then you can still make friends. The great thing about being a sorority it that you all have at least one thing in common. It makes it so much easier to become friends with someone if you know y'all have something in common.

3. You always know someone in class.

Whether you are just walking around or heading to a new class, there always seem to be someone wearing your letters or another sorority's letters. Whether or not they are in your sorority, you can sit next to them in class and talk about Greek life. It's nice to walk into a new class, see someone in your letters and be able to go sit next to them and instantly have a friend in your class. You always have a study buddy and always have someone to chill with.

4. Your friendship will last a lifetime.

Whether you know it or not, the friends you make in your sorority will be your friends forever. My friends in my sorority are some of the best people I know. I would not change them for the world. If you want to go out, stay in or study, then these girls will always be down.

My sorority has brought so much to my life. I am so glad to be a member of an organization that has brought me so much. Rushing is one of the best decisions I have made. It not only put me into a great sisterhood, but it also introduced me to some great people who are not even in my sorority. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
