Since I started college, one of the biggest lessons I've learned is that life isn't always going to look the way you thought it would. I remember starting freshman year thinking I had it all figured out. I knew what major I wanted to be, I knew what career I was aiming for, and I even had some schools picked out for Master's Program. Great, right? Well, here's the thing, life has a way of throwing curve balls your way and suddenly you find yourself taking a right where you THOUGHT you were supposed to take a left.
The thing is, a lot of times we allow ourselves to give into frustration because our plans aren't working out. OUR plans. MY plans.
See the problem?
We keep planning and dreaming up our tomorrows and suddenly, in the business, we forget that God already has a game plan.
In sports for instance, the players don't just make-up plays and run it by the coach during the game, hoping that he smiles back. The coach observes his players. He knows their weaknesses and their strengths. He knows when to put who, where. He trains them intentionally. He places them intentionally. Every play or call he makes has intention behind it.
That being said, God knows us. He knows our dreams, He knows our strengths and weaknesses, He sees our imperfections and intends to work on them. We can try, till our last breath, to make a great life for ourselves and make all our dreams come true, but we're only human.
BUT He is GOD.
The same God that promised us that He is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we could ask or imagine is on our side. He wants only the best for us, so stop robbing yourself of the best and settling for the mediocre by taking on life on your own. Allow God to open doors that you may have otherwise walked right passed, and allow Him to close doors that you don't have the strength or the will to close yourself. That being said, it won't always be easy on the road to seeing the fullness of God's goodness in your life.
You will walk through the darkness of the unknown, into the wilderness, into the storm but always remind yourself that He is good ALL the time. He is being intentional about the seasons you go through. No. It won't always look the way you imagined. You won't always get exactly what you might have been expecting. In these moments, allow your heart to turn back to God and say, "You are STILL good."
The way He leads will always leave us running to Him in worship. The resources and opportunities that we have in Him are absolutely endless. We've just got to learn to wait, trust, and have a faith that is far beyond our worry, stress and confusion about tomorrow. Be patient in the waiting. The end of the story will be so worth the wait.
