On Valentine's Day, couples celebrate their relationship and show how much they care for one another. However, If you don't have a significant other to celebrate with, you have other options to enjoy the day. Going against the traditional celebrations could even end up being more enjoyable. Here are few things you can do when you're single on Valentine's Day:

1. Play with animals at your local shelter.

Who doesn't like playing with seven cats at once and then taking a cute little dog for a walk down the street? Spending time with homeless animals doesn't just brighten your mood, it also makes their day. Even if you're only at the shelter for a short amount of time, it will make a big difference.

2. Treat yourself to a spa day.

Who doesn't love a day at the spa? Get your nails done and even splurge on a massage to relax and unwind.

3. Bake a batch of your favorite cookies.

Turn on some music and whip up a batch of your favorite cookies to enjoy.

4. Volunteer for the less fortunate.

There are volunteer opportunities everywhere. Local soup kitchens and homeless shelters are always looking for volunteers to spend a little time helping others.

5. Go on a shopping spree.

Nothing makes me feel better then heading to the mall and purchasing some new items. Don't forget to take advantage of the sales.

6. Watch some videos on YouTube.

You never know what you will find on YouTube. Some YouTube personalities are worth checking out. For example, if you like travel, then FunForLouis is for you and if you like humor videos, check out Tyler Oakley.

7. Read a book you've been dying to read.

We all have that book we've been dying to find the time to read.Today is the day! Curl up with some coffee or hot chocolate and get some reading done.

8. Have friends over for a movie night.

Chances are, you have some friends that are also spending this Valentine's Day without a significant other. Invite them over and stay up watching all of your favorite rom-coms.

9. Binge watch that show on Netflix you've been eyeing.

If you're like me, you're obsessed with binge-watching your favorite shows on Netflix. Why should today be any different? Might as well try to finish a whole season in a day.

10. Get active.

If the weather is nice, why not go hiking in the mountains and enjoy the beautiful view from the top? If the weather isn't cooperative, stretch your body with some yoga while watching the snowfall.

11. Discover some new music.

There is always new music to discover. Spotify and YouTube are great places to explore new talent. I am currently loving Troye Sivan and highly recommend him if you are an indie pop fan.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
