Many times, we get caught up in a world of wanting to look or be like someone else. We catch ourselves saying things like, “If only I could… and I wish I looked like…” constantly. It seems so impossible for us to be satisfied and happy with who we are and I find that really dissapointing. We were all made for different callings and trying to be like someone that is not you, will only lead to expectations that cannot be reached.
I think we believe that if we become more like a person, we will gain a certain power. Maybe over ourselves or others. But in all reality, no one is you and that is your power. No one can take away who you are and the qualities you posses. If we don’t allow people to take away our joy, they can’t.
When we talk about wanting to look a different way or act a different way the only thing it does is upset God, and this negative talk insults his creation and makes him disappointed. Never confuse changing as a bad thing all the time. Change can be good in so many ways! Changing up your hair or wardrobe is something fun and exciting. Or moving to a new place or changing up jobs. But getting plastic surgery to change your body to look like someone else or hiding your real personality to impress someone is not positive. When you do anything, do it for yourself and do it because it makes you happy. Never change because someone disagrees with who YOU are. You were fearfully and wonderfully made.
So many of our decisions in life are controlled and influenced by outside factors but the one thing that belongs to you is that no one is you. Imagine if we were all the same and we had no diversity. We all know that would suck so why don’t we take the time to love ourselves and realize how awesome we are! You cannot break a woman (or man) that seeks her happiness from God. If you focus your entire life on the Lord and rely on Him for all things, you will never have to seek your happiness from changing to be like other people. You were made with zero flaws. Be the person that inspires other people to stay just the way they are and love them unconditionally.
