To The College Student With No Motivation

I know the feeling. I've been where you are for years. But you know you're doing the right thing.

We've all been told for years that higher education is the best thing you can do after high school, if you're lucky enough to be able to go. I hated being told this same thing over and over by anyone who brought it up. I hated having to sit in class rooms in high school and had absolutely no desire to continue sitting in classrooms for four more years, listening to professors talk. I was hard headed then, but here I am now, sitting in class as I write this, paying tuition and housing for something that isn’t important to me. And I'm still happy with my decision.

In todays world, it is very hard to live a comfortable life without a degree from any type of school. A degree is a degree in my opinion, whether its from a two year junior college or a four year institution, and any little bit helps. So be thankful you get this opportunity while you're still young and can make your life exactly how you want it to be.

I've seen friends not go to college after high school for various reasons, and several are already struggling just a few years after graduating. I see their mistakes and am so thankful that I took the time now to learn from great people. I'm grateful to have the opportunities I'll have after finishing these next few years.

I was blessed with parents who pushed me to be the best I could be, and who cared enough to make me go to college. My parents worked hard to give me the life I had. They had to convince me that college was really the only option I had after high school if I wanted a life I could be proud of. I hated them for making me go, but now I'm beyond thankful for them and this opportunity to further my education and get a degree from a well known university.

So to the girl sitting in the back of class thinking “I should’ve skipped this class again,” - don’t do it. Take the time to go to class and do the work. I promise you’ll be thankful when you get to walk across that stage with your diploma in your hand. And you’ll be even more thankful when you’re not having to work at a fast food restaurant seven days a week just to pay your bills.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
