No Means No

When I say no guys, I really and truly mean no.

No Means No

Dear guy who will not leave me alone even after I said no,

I believe that I am speaking for every college girl, well really every girl, when I say that it is more annoying and super creepy when you don’t listen to the magical word called “no.”

Why do you not listen to my voice? Why do you not listen to my choice to want to interact with someone or to not? Why do you not listen to my rights? My right to exercise all of my rights in a way that protects me and makes me feel safe? Do you not understand that your ongoing pursuit, incessant messages, and guilt trips will never, ever work?

We know your tricks. We see your wants. We’re smarter than you... Oh trust me, yes, yes we are. No, we are not being mean when we do not wish to talk to you.

No, we are not bitches because we do not want to interact with you the way you want to interact together. We are not stuck up because we choose to respect our significant others and decide to not go one-on-one with someone? We have the right to choose. We have the right to decide.

I say this because I speak for the women who have been emotionally abused by men who act like this. I speak for the women who have been physically beaten by when who act like this. I speak for the girls who have had to deal with a mental illness, and who have been treated like this by men they’ve been with.

I speak for all girls when I say that no really does mean no. Respect it. There’s always a backstory to how a girl feels, and no one has to talk to a person because someone demands it. So next time a woman says no, please understand: ‘No Means No’.

Sincerely,

A College Girl

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
