Why is it that everyone seems the way to fight fire and anger, is to get more fired up and angrier? If you throw a ball of fire at a fire, does the fire just magically go away? No, it's common sense. The only ways to kill a fire are to drown it or suffocate it.
It's one of the things that aggravates me most about our society. No one can seem to figure out their problems without a riot, shooting, or just violence in general. Even members of the teams that are supposed to keep us safe would rather use force than words. Now I am not saying that all of them do this, for this is totally incorrect because there are so many wonderful humans in our police force and I love and respect all of them so deeply.
What I am saying is that there needs to be a way to create peace so that I can go to sleep at night not worried that another shooting or riot will start while I'm sleeping. So that I don't have to worry about my friends being shot down or fought with just because of who they are. So that my family doesn't have to pray for my cousin's life every time he goes out in the field. Because I am tired of being terrified of the world that I live in.
This is not living. Fear is not living. Put down the weapons and think. We need to treat each other the way that we would want to be treated. The creed of Phi Mu states,
"To be to others what we would they would be to us
To keep our lives gentle, merciful and just
Thus being true to the womanhood of love."
I think it's time that everyone starts to take these words to heart. We can not live vicious and cruel lives and just constantly be in danger because a life like that can find no love. This isn't just the teenage girl in me coming out (but I mean it does make me slightly bias) but I believe that love is what the world go round. Of course, scientifically it's all of that gravity and the sun and orbits and whatnot but to me, what makes the world work and makes everything happen is love.
Its time to quit the bullshit and stop adding heat to an already massive fire. Seriously people, take a chill pill.
