I don't have to shower in flip-flops.

With the semester finishing up and finals around the corner, it's time to start packing up and heading home. There's nothing more exciting than living on your own and being with your friends 24/7, but sometimes you just miss home. Here are nine things that ensure there's no place like home.

1. Laundry is easier

Maybe your mom still washes your clothes for you (no shame) or maybe you just don't have to walk across campus lugging your huge basket of clothes. Either way, laundry is MUCH easier and not as big of a pain, and that in itself is amazing.

2. Real food

Don't get me wrong the dining halls are nice, but only for the first month before you get tired of eating the same thing over and over, and ordering takeout doesn't exactly fit in a college student's budget.

3. Showering without flip-flops

Communal bathrooms are part of the college experience right?? Maybe! But it sure is nice not having to wear flip-flops at home.

4. Privacy

Having a roommate is great because you never have to be alone. Although sometimes never not being alone can be a PAIN. Time to yourself is good for anyone's mental sanity.

5. Home gym

Going to the gym is the perfect way to stay in shape and detox from the stress of school and exams. However, 30,000 other students have the same idea. The gym at home is nice and calm with just the same everyday regulars.

6. Available stores

I'm not saying I have to go out shopping every single day(okay maybe I do), but it is nice having more options than just Walmart and the College Bookstore.

7. Family

Going home is perfect for hanging out with family and seeing the people you don't get to see often while away at school.

8. Quiet

Living in a residence hall can be fun to always have people to hang out with. But one thing is, it's never quiet, like ever.

9. Sleep

I get the best sleep at home, sleeping in a normal size mattress that isn't paper thin. Better sleep = a better me.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter
morethanwheels

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
